Kurzfassung:

The topic of the lecture will be

* Foundation of human audiovisual perception
* Digital signal processing for audio and video signals
* Compression techniques for audiovisual data 

Lernziele:

The students will understand the basic principles of perception for audiovisual data and will know how to code and compress AV-data.

Lehrinhalte:

Learn how audio and video is perceived by humans, psychoacoustic and psychooptic models of perception, understand lossless and lossy compression techniques for AV-signals, the signal theoretic methods and implementations of AV-coders and decoders. Standards for compression formats like MPEG and JPEG.

Weitere Voraussetzungen:
